This post: 5 must-see highlights at Podium Lounge 2016
Next month is all about fast cars and adrenaline-pumping action, as the annual Singapore Grand Prix revs up for its eighth edition. The event’s star attraction may be the night race between big names the likes of Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, but equally noteworthy are its many off-track activities and glitzy after-parties.
One of these is The Podium Lounge, a yearly affair at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore — which is conveniently located within the race tracks — spanning music performances, fashion shows and exhibitions. Estelle
The Grammy Award-winning songstress rounds off race night (18 September, 2016) with a mix of her new and signature hits such as American Boy. She is known for voicing the character Garnet on the animated Cartoon Network series Steven Universe, and last performed here during the 2014 Singapore Formula 1’s after-party.
Me & Mr Jones
British singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her husband Richard Jones will perform as a duo titled Me & Mr Jones on 16 September. Ellis-Bextor is best known for her 2001 smash hit Murder on the Dancefloor and expected to release Familia, her sixth studio album on 2 September. Her Podium Lounge gig features her on vocals and Jones on the decks.
Fierce Angel
Dance the night away to vibrant beats and soaring tunes from Fierce Angel, a record label and events company by Mark Doyle (creator of iconic house music brand Hed Kandi). Its 17 September gig showcases Soraya Vivian on vocals and Emma Frampton on saxophone. Doyle also performed at last year’s edition of The Podium Lounge.
Jaguar F-PACE
Check out the sleek, newly launched F-PACE, which is Jaguar’s first ever SUV and will be on show at The Podium Lounge. Fashioned in lightweight aluminium, the sporty ride is equipped with 380-horsepower and can go from 0 to 100km in an impressive 5.5 seconds. Jaguar is the Official Car of this year’s Podium Lounge.
Zenchi
Homegrown fashion label Zenchi will present its latest designs in a nightly fashion show, which takes place on a special skywalk over Singapore’s longest pop-up island bar. The runway is custom-built in collaboration with vodka brand Grey Goose. Zenchi’s star-studded list of clients include supermodel Naomi Campbell and local celebrities Fann Wong and Zoe Tay.
