Earthly hues: 6 items for your home inspired by nature

Since the beginning of time, the earth has inspired inventors, voyagers, painters, and musicians in their craft. Think J.R.R Tolkien, Henri Rousseau and Beethoven. Mother nature’s beauty is unparalleled, and many can only try to replicate.

These designers come close, creating pieces of art that also double up as furniture. From ocean waves sculptures to cave beds, we can’t help but drool over these marvellous pieces that’ll bring nature into your home.

Drift, Fernando Mastrangelo

This post: Earthly hues: 6 items for your home inspired by nature

Fernando Mastrangelo’s Studio dreamt up a new collection of sculptural furniture inspired by glaciers and natural earth formations – using hand-dyed sand, powdered glass, mirror, and cement.

This inspiration comes from his travels to Patagonia (the collection’s colour palette references) and The Grand Canyon (where layers of earth and strata inspired the sand’s ombre effect). Each piece, like the “Drift” bench, is limited edition and is both functional and fine art.

Italian marble company Kreoo came up with a new nature-inspired collection that introduces a completely different way to use marble. Designer Enzo Berti overlaps two natural layers, marble and wood to create seats for the home.

The Pavè Stone is inspired by the effect of natural river water gliding over the stones of the river bed – where water flows, smoothes and polishes, forming nature’s remarkable artwork. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, seamlessly blending with nature or bringing its essence into an indoor space.

Sculptural ocean waves, Ben Young

If you’re a lover of the sea, bring the ocean home with you. These stunning hand-crafted sculptures by Australian artist Ben Young depict the mysteries of the ocean, and would make a gorgeous addition to any living space. They can be used as decor objects or as side tables.

Each of Young’s works are unique – hand drawn, hand cut and handcrafted from clear sheet float glass, then laminated layer upon layer to create the final form.

The Malachite collection by L’Objet brings a sophisticated energy to any space. Each piece in the fine tabletop decor collection is made of Limoges porcelain and earthenware with hand-gilded 24K gold accents, inspired by founder Elad Yifrach’s voyages to the Mediterranean area.

Liquid Chandelier, SERIP

SERIP creates divine nature-inspired organic  chandeliers and lighting. The Liquid collection is inspired by living vines and the liquid state, and is one of its first collections designed to be as dense as possible.

The Liquid Chandelier is hand-made in Portugal with bronze metal and hand blown glass, embodying vast branch patterns that looks like it’s embraced by nature movement like living water surrounded by growing branches.
