The Other Room Reversed Gin Tonic

Transport yourself back to the speakeasies of the Prohibition Era at The Other Room. Nestled within non-descript black curtains in the heart of Marriott Hotel is the bar helmed by Dario Knox, a multi-award-winning Barcelonian cocktail wizard. It is truly a place for cocktail and spirit lovers to revel in the array of 150 spirits cask or spice finished to fully compose a spectrum of flavour profiles. The menu features 30 cocktails inspired by definitive periods in mixology history, merging classics with Knox’s offbeat takes. Try the Moonshine Sour, a fresh, Creole-inspired cocktail, or if you’re brave, The Bloody Grail, a twist on the Bloody Mary with sesame seeds, kimchi and vingear.

The Other Room is located at Marriott Tangs Plaza Hotel, 320 Orchard Road, S2388865. Open Monday to Wednesday from 6pm to 3am, and Thursday to Sunday from 6pm to 4am.

This is one to visit if your ideal drinking session comes with hearty bar bites. Mo’mor meshes the izakaya concept with Japanese-European fusion cuisine, leaving you fully satiated as you glug back an ice-cold pint or sake cocktail. The Grilled Iberico Pork Jowl is a must-try — think generous portions of melt-in-your mouth pork glazed with a smoky maple marinade and uplifted by pickled apples. Mo’mor also serves Euro-fusion twists on sashimi to interesting ends. Their Swordfish Belly Crudo Style is one example. Thinly sliced mekajiki is dressed with ponzu and sprinkled with garlic chips for a salty kick.

Mo’mor Izakaya is located at 56 Tanglin Road, #B1 – 01,  S247964.

Botanist Gin arrives in Singapore

From the remote Scottish island of Islay comes a gin that exemplifies the botanical nature of the spirit itself — Botanist Gin. Created from the House of Bruichladdich, Botanist Gin is a medley of Islay’s finest botanicals, foraged from the island itself. It is clean on the palate, and beautifully fresh. You can drink it neat and detect each spice, fruit and herb that goes into the gin, making it a premium choice for both gin lovers and casual drinkers alike. The gin will be made available 25 bars around the country, including popular haunts like Potato Head Folk, Jigger & Pony and Spago.
